Clinical Supervision
I am really passionate about the supervision, training and mentoring of other Psychologists. While working in adult mental health in the HSE for over 10 years, I developed a skill set in mentoring and supervising Assistant Psychologists, Psychologists in Clinical Training and Staff Grade Psychologists. I regularly supervised trainees from TCD, UCD and occasionally further afield. I am also involved in teaching and training, and I really enjoy my guest lecturer position on the TCD Clinical Psychology Doctorate, where I teach working with complex cases. I also teach on the NUIG program. In clinical supervision, I would describe my approach as supportive, with a focus on process work, as well as increasing clinical skills. The main focus is having a safe space for the supervisee to reflect as well as a focus on nurturing growth. Feedback, in a supportive and constructive fashion is a core part of supervision & I always try to be open to receiving feedback also. Process work, and reflecting on the self, in a non-judgemental atmosphere is important in supervision. I balance this with clinical content, and guidance, drawing from the multiple models I work from, predominantly schema therapy, but also skills based approaches (DBT/ACT) and psychodynamic theory. If you are interested in accessing clinical supervision with me, please get in touch and we can reflect on what your supervision needs are and if it would be a good fit.
